I officiated a basketball tournament in Seymour, IN this weekend. After game 3 of 7 that I had today I was speaking with a freshman coach from a high school in the area. We were talking about Facebook and the unbelievable valuation of $50B that they just received.
He looked at me and said, "you officiate! You really need to check out this website called The Tyros." It's a website for coaches, referees, and assigners."
I said, "really?"
Coach then said, "yeah I watched the animation video the other day explaining what the site will do and I think you'd enjoy it."
"They have a video?" I said in a way to get him to look at me again.
Then in an instant it seemed to all click for him. He said, "wait, are you in that video?!" I laughed and said, "yes it's me! I'm one of the founders."
It completely made my day that a guy I didn't know heard about the website and started telling people!

Questions
“Josh, what in the world do you do all day?”
“I wish I worked for myself.”
“So what exactly are you guys creating?”
These are some of the questions that I get on a daily basis. Friends are often jealous of the fact that I took the plunge to “work” for myself. It doesn’t “feel” like work to me. Some people say that is because we’re a startup and haven’t made a dollar yet. That may be partly true. However, the key I’ve found; is it’s hard to feel like it’s work when it’s something you’re passionate about.
One of the easiest pitches we’ll ever have to make is the fact that we officiate and we’re building a tool that we will use. Which means we won’t ever get complacent about improving and adding to this web application!
It is fun working for yourself. However, it’s also challenging because the main focus is generating that revenue instead of waiting for a paycheck every two weeks. I actually see myself as extremely lucky. I get to work with some of my best friends and build a product that is going to make my love for officiating easier to execute.
In fact this is how terrific my job is. I’m currently sitting at Buffalo Wild Wings in Plainfield, IN watching the Butler game. Ah, what a life…

Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Dear Community von Tyros,
We're sitting here at The Rusty Bucket http://www.myrustybucket.com/default.aspx here on 86th street getting some work done. Saturday night we went to the Night of Champions Fellowship of Christian Athletes annual fundraising banquet. We had a terrific time. Jon Kitna was the keynote speaker and it was nice to see an athlete that I admired when he was with the Detroit Lions be such a terrific man of God.
Stay tuned, I'll be updating on some fun news very soon.

Moving Along
I know it's been a while since I've written. The good thing is we've been so busy that I haven't really sat down lately to just write. We've had a ton of productive meetings and we're making a lot of noise in the news. These are exciting times.
Tomorrow is an off day. I'll catch up on e-mails and start plans for next week. It will be a nice little relaxation. Plus, I'll get to watch one of the best sporting events available...March Madness! Baseball is right around the corner also. Ah, what a month.
Lock-in 3.0 is coming up so stay tuned for further development news!
